Sydney Surf Pro

The entire running order of events, including surf schedule, nightlife and other activities to participate in while you’re in Manly.

Need to know where to start the day with a coffee and acai bowl, which steak sandwich or poké bowl is good for lunch and the best stop for an ice-cold schooner of beer or crisp glass of wine in the arvo is? Maybe you’re looking for some lush accommodation for the week? Along with our event partners, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a local’s guide to the best spots for the week 16 – 24 March 2019.

The iconic Sydney to Manly ferry ride is a must! You can be staying in the heart of Sydney city and be transported in style to Manly Beach within a little over 30 minutes. You can take the Sydney Ferry using an Opal Card or the Fast Ferry for $17 return.

There are a LOT of busses that come in and out of Manly from the Sydney CBD, North Sydney, Chatswood and the rest of the Northern Beaches, you can even grab one and head up to Palm Beach for the day (on the 199 route). Plan your trip here.

Manly and the local Northern Beaches Council run a free courtesy bus within the local area, so if you’re staying nearby but a little too far to walk check out if the bus runs near you to save yourself parking hassles. Check out the timetable and local route here.

There are a number of accommodation options in and around Manly Beach. They range from backpackers, motels, and hotels. We recommend the following location for your stay in Manly during the 2019 Vissla Sydney Surf Pro.

Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific Hotel

Check the surf at dawn and run home between activities. The Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific Hotel will allow you to indulge yourself in 4-star oceanside comfort right on the beach, opposite the event. Awake to an ocean sunrise and a breath of sea air in your light, contemporary room. A surf or a waterfront jog and a Pacific-backdrop breakfast with eggs made to order and barista coffee get your day off to a bright start at Novotel.

Hotel Steyne

So wake up at your leisure and see all of what Manly and it’s surrounds have to offer.

We recommend utilising public transport when travelling to Manly to enjoy the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro.

There are six parking blocks in Manly, two have less than two hours free policy. SEE LOCATIONS HERE.

But beware Council rangers monitor vehicles to ensure spaces are turned over, so it’s fair for all. If you stay longer than authorised you’ll more than likely end up with a fine around the $120 mark, so grab a ticket.

The 2019 Vissla Sydney Surf Pro would not be made possible without local community and business support. Surfing is so deeply ingrained in coastal towns and cities in Australia with the local, and long-time surfers being some of the key small business owners and operators. We encourage you to support those businesses during your stay in Manly.

In 2019 we thank the following businesses for their support:

Family friendly with a variety of room sizes to suit your party, shared and private bathroom options, beachfront or Corso facing balconies available, complimentary tea and coffee. So wake up at your leisure and see all of what Manly and it’s surrounds have to offer.

Manly Surf School hosts hundreds of surfers on Manly Beach daily teaching everything from the basics of beach and surf safety, to paddling and wave catching right through to high-performance coaching. It’s hard to miss them, they’re based on the sand level of North Steyne Surf Club right in the middle of the event site.

Manly Surf School also operates schools out of Collaroy and Palm Beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches as well as a High Performance Surf Centre in Cromer fitted out with all the latest surf fitness gear and technology AND an Olympic trampoline and indoor skate ramp. It’s just up the road from the event site and Matt runs a number of group sessions and private sessions through the week.
